Find the Balance | Give-a-way

There is a contest involved I swear…just keep reading.

In July 2008, I left my wonderfully challenging administrative position at a little community college in Oregon for the glamorous lifestyle of a Real Housewife in San Joaquin County. Five months of conversing with a headstrong 3 year-old and an overly sensitive 5 year-old for the majority of the day will drive any person crazy. After talking with the Mister and some encouragement from friends I decided it was time to put my eye for photography to work.

Fastforward to June 2009. Kia Gregory Photography was established. Business license was in the mail. I put my name out there on the world-wide-web. I secured clients (and made some friends) for portfolio building. I began to develop my style (bright, full of life).

It’s been a year since I’ve been flying with this hope and a prayer and I am on a rollercoaster of feelings. No two days in my business are the same. Everything is off kilter. I still need to find the balance.

Enter the Spread the Love TourJustin and Mary Marantz, a husband and wife photography team based in New England, are on a workshop tour. The amount of workshops available to photographers is kind of confusing but when I read the information about this tour I thought…THIS IS IT! I NEED TO BE THERE. It’s a LIFE WORKSHOP!

So, the contest…I have one ticket available for the Spread the Love Tour that’s coming to San Francisco in ONE MONTH. On February 8, Justin and Mary will be expounding wisdom for all! To enter: leave a comment (make it meaningful) on my blog (anywhere) and in 7 days I will randomly choose a winner! PS IF YOU ARE COMMENTING FOR A SEAT. MENTION THAT YOU ARE FROM THE BAY AREA! Thanks!

If you don’t win, buy a seat here!

Good luck!

Thanks, Harmony! We could be total BFFs but I don’t know if I’d be able to keep up with you jogging.

You girls rock ;) I want to join in the BFF love, cuz I follow you both and think the same! ;)

Kia, if you’re give-a-way includes a way out of the frigid nightmare of snow that is my city right now, count me in! And, since it probably doesn’t, I’ll just say that I think you’re awesome.

I’m so excited that you get to go to their workshop!

I read this yesterday and wanted to leave a comment but then…. baby called! So, I’m back now. Kept thinking of meaningful things to say yesterday, trying to be funny too, but no gimmick- you are such a lovely woman and your photographs are delightful. Your perspective shines through them and they move me. In my book, that makes you a great photographer. Is there room for me in the BFF club?

Keep shining!

Oh, and let me know when you want me to come pick up the ticket!! ;) LOL!! (I’m a dreamer, what can I say??)

Hi Kia & fellow [b] schooler…I’m not sure about where you live, but it’s cut-throat up in my neck of the woods. I’m working my hardest at networking with fellow photographers (even one that I’ve known for a long time, but never dealt with on a professional basis) but no one wants to get together and swap ideas over a cup of coffee! Although we’re not exactly next door neighbors, we have a lot to offer each other and would LOVE a chance to attend the workshop with you – plus what a great excuse to have to make a trip to the SF! Happy Sunday :)

I’m just thrilled to have won this contest – definitely buying you lunch before the workshop! And can’t wait to just get away for the day (I have a few kids of my own :) See you soon Kia! Hope the weather isn’t too bad where you’re at – it’s just horrible here.
